April's Theme: How She Teaches Her Children to Work
Art by Leslie Graff (lesliegraff.com)
One day the mother of one of my brother's friends spoke to his first grade teacher, appalled; "Did you know that Brett Singley has to do chores!" The teacher just laughed and asked her, "Don't yours?"
It had never occurred to me that some kids didn't have to do chores. But my mom didn't let us ruminate on that possibility for long. She was busy ushering us out into the garden to pull weeds.
This month, I'd love to know what chores you make your kids do your house and—more importantly—how you actually get your kids to do them. Here are some of my questions. You can answer them right in this form, or just write me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
